X3 CNC Mill Completed! · Nov 10, 01:07

We had a bit of a hiatus from the X3 CNC project…

But now, it’s all completed and working under CNC and manual operation. Our design allows dual functionality without sacrificing either one.

This front view shows the X and Y axes. The X axis uses a 1:1 direct drive while the Y axis uses a gear reduction via an XL timing belt and pulley system:

As with the Sieg X2 mini-mill (which we already have plans and kits for CNC, DRO, and ACME), the X3 has a simple way of connectiing the X axis – mainly for the purposes of connecting a motorized drive system.

The Z-axis posed (as with the X2) a bit of a challenge. We’re still working out one more small issue, but it works as designed.

This project can be completed within one weekend. We’re finalizing plans and will post an update when they’re available.

We converted a Grizzly G0463, which is the same model as the Harbor Freight 93885 – both made by Sieg in China.

Enjoy!
