The ZAY7025FG X3-Sized RF45-Style Mill - An even better and more nimble Home Shop Machine? · May 14, 00:06
We really like the Rong-Fu 45 dovetail/square column style mill. It’s a great size and works great (and even of the ENCO variety).
Well, we ran across a smaller version of the RF45 today (we’d forgotten to post this entry a while back) and are quite pleased that the hobby machines market is continuing to grow.
The RF45 style machine is the ZAY7045 (and similar monickers), the “new” style machine is the ZAY7025FG. Note that “25” versus the “45”. It’s certainly a smaller machine than the RF45.
Here’s what it looks like:

There are a few vendors selling this model, but eBay has a few sellers offering them for just around $1099. Not too bad at all!
And the specs:
Size of table: 20.5 × 6.25”
Y axis travel: 6.25”
X axis travel: 12.5”
Motor: 0.5 HP 110V 1 Ph
Number of speeds: 6
Range of spindle speed: 115-1700 rpm
Spindle travel: 3.375”
Spindle taper: R8
Drilling capacity: 1”
Max mill capacity(End/Face): 0.75/2.5”
Max Dist. spindle nose to table: 17.5”
Dist. spindle axis to column: 8”
Swivel angle of headstock: 90°
Net/gross weight: 396/528 Lbs
Bottom line: This machine has the base of and X3 and the head of an RF45. Chinese machine manufacturers are working overtime making “Frankenstein” machines, eh?
We’ll be ordering one of these machines and CNC’ing it in due time.
