We’ve been loyal supporters of ENCO and MSCDirect because we can typically get free ground shipping that ends up at the shop in one day due to our proximity to a distribution center.
We typically purchase everything from bolts and raw stock to end mills and such from ENCO since their pricing was pretty good and purchase from MSCDirect for items not found at ENCO.
But you have to check out OnlineMetals!
In the past, we generally shyed away from OnlineMetals.com since their prices during the time we priced them out was somewhat comparable or more expensive than the usual suspects and shipping took 2+days. Thus, it didn’t appear to be advantageous to shop with them.
BUT WAIT! We recently checked OnlineMetals and found that even with having to pay UPS ground shipping (OK, we don’t get it the day after and there’s a bit of an issue with stock-checking), their prices are spectacular for an online vendor. That, coupled with their rather generous discounts makes us beginning to wonder how much we’ve been overpaying for raw materials. Plus, they have aerospace materials. WOW!
Perhaps it was their purchase by Thyssen Krup (good job!) that brought down their prices. The bottom line is if you need raw stock ranging from aluminum to titanium, check out OnlineMetals!
