figNoggle Designs: Tired of Cranking the Z-Axis Crank Handle on an RF45 Mill? Use a Cordless Drill and a Crank-Z-Doodle Adapter

Tired of Cranking the Z-Axis Crank Handle on an RF45 Mill? Use a Cordless Drill and a Crank-Z-Doodle Adapter · Oct 6, 20:42

If you own a Rong-Fu 45 (AKA RF45) or clone mill such as the Lathemaster ZAY7045, ENCO Model #325-5184 Square Column Mill, Grizzly G0484 (actually, this doesn’t have this “issue”), Travers OT7045FG, and Industrial Hobbies to name a few, you may notice that raising the head can be quite a chore.

There’s an extremely simple way to resolve this.

We call it the “Crank-Z-Doodle” Z-axis crank handle adapter for a standard 3/8” drill.

Basically it’s an adapter that mounts onto the crank handle shaft and uses a 3/8” shaft for mounting to a cheap drill that saves your arm muscles and elbow joints from premature wear :)

We’re going to make up a bunch of these and sell them for next to nothing. It should make your RF45 experience easier and more fun. It’ll certainly be less exhausting!

Here’s a picture of the “Crank-Z-Doodle” on the column:

And with a drill mounted:

We recommend a right-angle drill like the Harbor Freight 3/8” Close Quarters Drill #92956. It should have enought umphh to raise the head. Certainly, our DeWalt XRP 18V cordless drill does.
