CNC Gang Lathe Arrived! · May 30, 23:26
After many months of searching for Mori Seikis, Okumas, Nakamura-Tomes, and Miyano CNC lathes (to name a few), we finally discovered an off-brand CNC gang lathe on eBay. Luckily, we won the auction and had one heck of a time getting it here!
Good news? It’s running a Yasnac LX3 control. Here are some pictures of the machine.

Bad news? It’s a no-name with a color scheme that resembles some Mazaks (did Mazak ever make gang lathes?).
We really wanted a CNC turret lathe, but kept losing auctions on eBay. Then there were the few times when an Okuma or Mori-Seiki lathe (gang and turret, respectively) appeared on Craigslist, but we were too slow secure the machine. We became somewhat resigned to purchasing a gang lathe (a tailstock would have allowed certain parts to be much easier to make), and voila! Our first true, 7500# CNC lathe, gang, turret, or what have you. We were just excited to have this in the shop!
Next up besides a story to tell you all about how we got this lathe here from the other side of the Rockies or how we managed to over travel the table on day one in the X and Z axes or how a simple call to Yaskawa left them with a “you’ll need to replace your motherboard”, we’ll start with the eBay bidding war story.
Stay tuned!
